Why We Started
The explosion of medical imaging and the rise of AI promise transformative healthcare solutions. Yet progress is often stalled because researchers lack access to high‑quality labelled data and hospitals lack resources to monetize their archives. Radinate was founded to bridge this gap — inspired by foundational datasets like ImageNet, we are creating a shared resource for radiology and beyond.

As practicing radiologists and engineers, our founders witnessed promising AI projects grind to a halt because of data barriers; Radinate exists to ensure that never happens again.
Evolution of Data Annotation
The way we label medical images is changing rapidly. From manual curation to AI‑assisted pre‑labelling and beyond, annotation workflows continue to evolve.
2015–2020
Manual labelling by in‑house teams — effective but slow and resource‑intensive. Every bounding box and segmentation was drawn by hand.
2021–2024
AI‑assisted pre‑labelling emerges, speeding up workflows by proposing regions of interest for radiologists to refine and validate. Human oversight remains critical.
2025 and Beyond
Foundation models pre‑annotate at scale while experts focus on validation and edge cases. This combination of automation and clinical judgement ensures the highest quality labels.
